Last night I had the pleasure of checking out the Kims of Comedy at Washington University.  Oh my goodness, SO funny!  Dr. Ken was HILARIOUS, Kevin Shea was disgustingly funny and Steve Byrne was okay.  Okay, he was more than okay he was fine.  Maybe if there was a word that was just a bit more than fine than I’d use that, but there isn’t.

Actually they were all great.  I had the pleasure of meeting Steve back in NYC at Jakes so it was cool to see him again down in Seattle.  He’s pretty much a gentleman and it was fun just being friendly with him and not having to swat him off me like all the other bees that come to the honey (the honey being me).

I don’t know what’s up with me this morning.  Maybe it’s the extra burnt shot of espresso in my Starbucks caramel macchiato, or maybe I’m still buzzing from last night.

OH, and for those of you who read my blog, you know that I have this weird knack of running into people I know everywhere I go.  So here’s a story from last night.

We’re all hanging in the back of Earls having some drinks and eating french fries when I look over Steve’s shoulder and there’s my ex, Jordan St. John, standing by a nearby bar looking at me with a giant smile on his face.  I look at him with a puzzling stare and he waves me over.  I excuse myself and walk up to him.

“What are you doing down here?” he asks.

“I was at a comedy show over at the university…” I answered back.

“That you knew man over there?” he asks while nodding his head over towards Steve.

“No, that’s my friend who was in the comedy show.”  I said.

“Justin told me you were here.”

“Justin?  Who’s Justin again?  I didn’t see anyone I recognized?”  I said to him.

“He’s working the door here.”

“OH!  Justin from the Emigrant, I didn’t even recognize him, he grew his hair!”

“Yea, it’s sort of feathered now too.  I was about to go to bed when I saw him calling, I wasn’t going to answer but I did and he told me I should come down to Earls.  I told him I was in bed but then he said, ‘Cynthia’s here, some guy is nibbling on her ear’.”

I interrupted him, “Whaaa???  OH, I get it; no one was nibbling on my ear!  It was a joke we were doing, since it’s so loud in here I kept putting my ear towards Steve and he would in turn talk really close into it as a joke.”

“OH okay.”  He says and then continues, “I tried calling you but it said the user was unavailable.”

In a quick panic I check my phone to make sure it was working, the last thing I need is for my boss to not be able to get a hold of me.

“Oh, missed call” I said, and checked the caller ID.  I look at it and laugh and show Jordan my phone, “I still have you saved as ‘Don’t Answer’.”

“You need to change that.”  He says, then goes on to ask how my family is.  I tell him my family is great.  Then he goes on to say how he’s back working at the Emigrant and how he’s finishing school and going for a double major and might apply to law school in California yadda yadda yadda.

“I should get back to my friends.” I said and just then I hear Kevin Shea say, “Hey we’re blowing this joint, you coming with us?”

“Yep!” I say and chug the last of my beer.  “See ya” I say to Jordan and take off with them.  We then all went to some place called Flowers where Cynthia, some other girl I can’t remember her name and I all had raspberry lemon drops – SOO GOOD!!!

And that was my night.

I’m in JFK waiting for my plane to go back home to Vancouver.  I already feel like I am back in Vancouver just because of the types of people I am surrounded by right now.  I may come off different in this post only because the only sleep I got since yesterday was maybe a total of 30 minutes I got at Marshall’s, 10 minutes in a cab from Brooklyn back to midtown Manhattan, and then the taxi ride from midtown Manhattan to JFK Airport.

My flight is delayed.  Why are there never any outlets in the waiting areas by the gates?  It is ridiculous!

I’ve posted almost all my pictures from NY on my MySpace as well as my flickr account (which you can check out in the Gallery page here on my site).

NYC was amazing.  I got to meet up with friends I hadn’t seen since last year I was there, also Matthad a show in town at the same time as I was there so go to visit with him on Monday which was cool.  I really gave-er per-say to the city last night.  Didn’t drink much but danced and enjoyed good company and found out finally how to watch Robot Chicken on a laptop (oh how I love to nerd out in front of macs.

I’ll write more about Linda and my adventure 620 feet below the ground with the Sandhogs later.  So for now check out the pictures and pray that my luck will break and I actually won’t be sitting next to some infant on this long flight home that which I’m hoping to finally get some Zzz’s on.

How lovely, my head just started to pound…

So I decided I wanted to get my haircut in NYC.  The only problem was I didn’t know where I should go.  I was talking with Maria about it and since she has all these fashionable globe-trotting friends of course she had a bevy of people to ask on my behalf on their opinion on where I should go.  Her hairdresser said the Downtown Bumble & Bumble and ask for Bronwynn.  Her other friend Negar aslo said Bumble and Bumble and while I was doing a city search on hair salons at the same time I was reviewing reviews on Bumble and Bumble - it was a sign!  Bronwynn could only take me today, tomorrow, or next week Thursday.  Unfortunately I only land at 9 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday just seemed too long of a wait.  I asked if there was anyone else they could suggest as I was referred to Bronwynn and the receptionist looked up and said Marco was on the same level (as he does editorial styling) and was available for noon on Wednesday.  So I am now booked!  I am SO excited!  Like I can’t even breath…  Oh it’s funny to be a girl sometimes…  Pictures soon to come, of course.

This morning I drove into town early before I had to start work because today is the day I have to pick up my renewed passport.  I was tempted to stop at the little coffee shop whose coffee I’ve become accustomed to in Gastown, but it wasn’t exactly on my way to Coal Harbour.

Every person I saw walking or jogging on the street I saw differently this morning.  As I saw their faces passing I felt as though I felt their beings.  I saw them.  This one business woman with a smart short haircut passed by holding an old purse you can tell she hasn’t been able to replace yet just because that one is so practical, along with her laptop case stuffed with files would have normally seemed so empty to me walked in front of me at the crosswalk and the moment I saw her face I saw someone who was more than her expressed outer self projected; it made me smile.  More people passed by on the short few blocks down W. Hastings to Broughton where my final destination was.  I saw foreigners who’ve never looked to beautiful before.  I saw an obese man with the kindest heart…  I pull into my underground, all three levels below the surface.  A woman two stalls down was vacuming her vehicle.  I got out of my car, grabbed my camera, my tripod, my laptop case and a bag of booze and soda that I had brought along to replenish the fridge here at my part-time abode.  The vacuming had stopped.  I thought, I’ll be sharing an elevator with this woman.  I rarely see anyone in the elevator in this building.  I shut the back hatch of my car and head to the elevator, only to see the woman stepping into the elevator and allowing the door to close.  Immediately I thought, “Bitch!”.  As I approached the elevator I realized that I had been in such a euphoric state upon parking my car, and now it had all disappeared.  The elevator came in record time, perhaps she sent it down, or maybe she just went to P1 to through out her garbage from her vehicle…

Today is a funny day.  I still feel peace in my heart even though this is the first free minute I’ve had from work all morning.

P.S. New York City here I come!  I leave Friday, and I’m excited and stressed at the thought of packing.  I feel like I am returning home for a visit when it comes to New York.  New York is going to be so much fun!  I’ll get to hang with Marshall and Rosy again (Marshall DJ’s at some pretty sweet spots in NY so you know that means good times)  Rosy already has a party to invite me to Monday night.  Tuesday my dear friend Matt plays and I’ll get to see him for the first time since March 5th.  Pretty stoked about it all…

P.P.S. I’m even more excited now because Marshall said he’d be down for checking out David Guetta at Pacha with me Friday night after I land - what a way to re-introduce myself into the city I love so much!
